The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees for 2008 have been announced. They are:
The Dave Clark Five
John Mellencamp
Leonard Cohen
Madonna
The Ventures
I have read allofthesearticles on this topic and they all seem to give Madonna top billing. Why? The ONLY thing I found that didn't was the announcement from the Rock Hall itself.
Just came across this article from Yahoo Music about the new Metallica album that currently has no release date. It speaks of how they are workng with a new producer, Rick Rubin, instead of their normal producer Bob Rock. Now Rick Rubin is not a new producer just new to Metallica as they have never worked with him. It talks about how Rick Rubin has taken everything they have been comfortable doing with Bob Rock and turned it upside down.
Okay this one kind of caught me be surprise but it seem Napster is trying to reinvent itself. According to this article at Reuters you no longer need anything other than a web browser to use the music service. This is a departure of sorts as other services like iTunes make you rely on their proprietary software to use their service. That variety of use, which is how Napster was, is still available too but now you have a choice.
Next month all you Led Zepplin fans with Digital Audio Players (iPod, Zune, or whatever) will be able to get those tunes via an online source not just from store bought CD or other neferious ways. At least that is what this article over at Reuters says. I think this is a good move since CD sales have been slipping and things like iTunes Store have been getting more and more sales.
Starbucks, the famous coffeehouse with over 10,000 locations, will be giving away over 50 million songs between Oct. 2nd and Nov. 7th or roughly 1.5 million songs a day via iTunes the digital music service from Apple according to this article from Yahoo.
