comicbooks

Ever want to do a comic?

Ever been interested in doing a comicbook? Ever think about doing it online as a webcomic? The guys from Half Pixel would like to guide you along. Half Pixel, or as they are probably better known, Scot Kurtz from PVP, Dave Kellet from Sheldon, Kris Struab from Starslip Crisis, and Brad Guiger from Evil Inc. Not too long ago they purchased the internet domain webcomics.com and are now running it as a HOW TO kind of site for those who would be interested in getting into the field.

Have a look. Really good stuff.

Pretty Cool

Saw this over at Aint it Cool News. Firebeather, The Mice Templar, and The Vanishers are all getting made into TV movies. Firebreather and The Mice Templar, both Image published books, will be computer animated while The Vanishers, published by IDW, will be live action.

Like I said in the title, pretty cool. Tip of the hat goes to Cartoon Network for doing it. :)

Batman: The Dark Knight

Seems to be a lot of comic book related movies this summer and I'm lovin' it!

So, B:TDK, WOW!!! Saw it at an early Saturday matinee. WOW!!!

The ONLY negative thing I have to say about the movie was the actress playing Rachel Doss looked much older than Katie Holmes. I don't know if it was intentionally done but that's it. Everything else is super green. A definite go see movie.

I thought everyone was saying Oscar nomination for Heath Ledger's part as the Joker was more a tip of the hat for a guy, who let's face it, died way too young. After seeing the movie, okay I get it. He played the part of the Joker to a the letter. Maybe better than Jack's portrayal. Actually, I think it was better. He was scarier looking. More methodical and maniacal. Overall just freaky good at the part.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army

Okay, the first Hellboy movie was good. Not great. This one I think was WAY better. More story, more action. It was smart yet easy to follow. The characters were played well. The creatures were SOOO cool looking. Gotta say this one is well worth seeing.

That's it. I'm not going to give you ANYTHING about the story. If you don't know what Hellboy is go find out. The stories in comic book form are worth reading. The movies have been worth seeing. So either way you should be satisfied.

Wanted

I wanted Wanted to be SOOOOO good. I believed the hype. I saw the trailers and previews. I figured there is no way it can disappoint as all of that was very enjoyable.

Well, I saw it. The story is similar to the graphic novel. Atleast that is what I've heard. I don't own it yet and haven't read it. Hopefully, that will soon be rectified. :) Then I read that it isn't anything like the graphic novel and is so far off that it shouldn't have been titled after the movie and this was after I saw it. So now I really want to read the graphic novel. Anyone have a spare copy I can borrow? :)

On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One

I don't normally talk about games even though I do love playing them. I just don't have the time to dedicate to it. Anyways, I couldn't ignore this. This one is for you fans of Penny Arcade. What is it? Well, it's an episodic game that is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. It has the Penny Arcade guys set in a 1920's universe. It looks like the webcomic. You can get it from Play Green House here. Enjoy the trailer below. :)

UPDATE: Forgot to mention they also have a demo available for each platform too. So you can try it out and see what it is like on your machine before you buy it.

Free Comic Book Day

Just a reminder, TODAY is free comic book day. A list of the books this year and a some suggestions of books you might give a try.

Rasl dazzle

Over at CBR they have an article about Jeff Smith's new book Rasl. By now the first issue should be available. Go get it.

On a slightly different note. Valiant is back. A new site. Some new graphic novels coming. Pretty interesting.

CBR also has a new studio tour up, Sean Phillips.

Moore Echo

A little while back I mentioned Terry Moore's new book Echo. Well, now I can point you to a little more info. Now CBR has an article from WonderCon spotlighting him. Echo is sounding pretty interesting.
