Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

Okay, Noni and I went and saw FF:RotSS today. After which I read a review of it by what the Plain Dealer calls our resident expert on comics. He hated it. Said it was poor acting and written even worse. I have to disagree completely. I thought it was really pretty good. Yes the principle of the story was pretty easy to grasp but isn't that the point to make a movie that people understand and can then enjoy for what actually takes place in the movie.

I thought they did pretty good keeping a decent balance of humor mixed in with adventure. I mean come on it's comic books, the FF to be precise. If FF didn't have humor in it then it would be nothing but an egghead doing a bunch of stuff people wouldn't understand including the others on his team. I think the back and forth that Torch and Think have going is great. Work in the comic and in the film. I loved how they used Surfer's cosmic power to transform Torch's molecules so he can switch powers with others. It made for a cool take on things and was used in the story to an actual advantage.

Mike Sangiacomo, the above expert, said that Sue Storm seemed to get more screen time than any other person in the film. This is Jessica Alba we are talking about. Of everyone in the film she is the most famous so giving her more screen time does make sense though to me it didn't really seem like she had any favoritism. Yes, the film seemed to focus on Reed and Sue's Wedding a lot but that was kind of the point of the movie. They were trying to show that even though these characters lead incredible lives they are still trying to be normal people. I thought the story flowed well, kept a pretty good pace. I would have liked seeing more of the Surfer in the film since he was
suppose to be the focus but then this was a Fantastic Four movie not a
Silver Surfer movie.Smile

The only complaint I had was that it seemed kind of short. The others in the theatre seemed to enjoy themselves too so I would have to say that the movie did it's job. Took us out of our normal lives and let us see something fantastic and out of the ordinary while still showing that even extra ordinary people want to have, at times, ordinary lives.

FF:RotSS for $.99

Yeah you read that right but time is limited and pay attention to the restrictions.

If you are a Windows user and want to get Fantasic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer on the cheap, 99 cents cheap then head over to BitTorrent.com. If you want to bypass everything and just go buy it try this link you will still have to download it via a bittorrent client though. I want to thank Hiedi MacDonald over at The Beat for the heads up on this as I think it is a fantastic opprotunity. Sorry.

If this works with the XBox 360 and the like then I could see this as a possible "movie rental" future.
