Wanted

I wanted Wanted to be SOOOOO good. I believed the hype. I saw the trailers and previews. I figured there is no way it can disappoint as all of that was very enjoyable.

Well, I saw it. The story is similar to the graphic novel. Atleast that is what I've heard. I don't own it yet and haven't read it. Hopefully, that will soon be rectified. :) Then I read that it isn't anything like the graphic novel and is so far off that it shouldn't have been titled after the movie and this was after I saw it. So now I really want to read the graphic novel. Anyone have a spare copy I can borrow? :)

The movie... Opened up very down and negative in tone as the movie went on it didn't get much better. It was very fast paced and the stunts and effects were great. The story was pretty good. I liked it. Thought they had put in enough twists and turns to keep people going hmmm.... but some of them were pretty predictable. Not that that makes for a bad movie. I find myself liking the fact that I can figure the twists out before they happen and then to be right. The climax and ending made sense to me. I think they were done correctly no matter how other people see it. If they would have done the truely happy ending with the boy getting the girl I would have been disappointed. This was not THAT kind of story so telling the story the way they did and then ending it that way would have been a cheap way out. The way they ended it was much more satisfing.

Okay, so I gave away a little bit of the story but I tried not to go into too much detail. Hope everyone is okay with that without a spoiler claim. :)

I have to say seeing what My Wife and I call "Grandpa" (Morgan Freeman) swear was one of the best parts of the film for us but overall they did really swear A LOT. I guess if I was in that kind of work I probably would too. I don't really know since I'm not so it's hard to say. :)
If you don't like seeing people get shot, slaughtered, beaten... then you may want to stay clear of this movie. It is VERY VIOLENT.
The bullet curving thing was kind of neat but I think they spent a lot of time on it. Still a neat concept.
The car in the trailer ends up not looking so good after that scene so if you don't like to see a nice vehicle like that abused you may not want to see this movie. However, if you like a great chase scene with lots of stunts in it (many of them involving Angelina Jolie) then by all means go see this flick as I thought some of those stunts were great and even though they were over the top the chase scene as a whole was made better for them.

So, overall I'd say it is worth seeing and if I can talk the wife into it we will probably own the DVD. :)

Okay, I now OWN the comic

Okay, I now OWN the comic book graphic novel and have read it. The basic concept of the graphic novel is in the movie but there are a lot of differences too. The concept of them being SUPER VILLIANS isn't even touched on in the movie other than to say they are assassins and the "bad guys". The fact of curving the bullet and being able to control focus seems to be the "power" but I don't think it is pronounced as such in the graphic novel. The swearing in the movie was not as bad as it was in the graphic novel so if you read the graphic novel you should have no problem with the movie. :)

Basically, both of the two different stories I got about the movie were correct to a certain extent. The movie was not really like the graphic novel but it was based on the premiss of it. At least the some of the characters were the same even if they weren't dressed in villiany style costumes. The story was remotely similar but there wasn't a lot of overlap.
